A single car wreck on Wednesday, Feb. 11 claimed the life of 17 year old Caleb Ammons of Cumming. Ammons was the passenger in a 1998 Honda Civic driven by 18 year old Ashton Ciunowicz of Cumming.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash on Dr. Bramblett Road at Milford Lane at 10:30pm.

“The vehicle was traveling southbound and left the roadway while negotiating a curve, said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle then traveled down an embankment, began to roll, struck a tree and continued to roll until coming to a rest.

Ammons, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and died on scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

“Ciunowicz was cut out of his seatbelt and taken to North Fulton Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries,” authorities said.

Drugs and Alcohol are not suspected in the crash at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Crash Investigations Unit.

Ammons was a former student at Gateway, West Forsyth High School, Vickery Creek Middle School and Vickery Creek Elementary. Counselors were on site today at West Forsyth High School to talk with students as needed.
