Pinecrest Academy senior Andy Rodriguez earned a perfect score on his Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language and Culture Exam, taken when he was a junior, in 2014.
Rodriguez was one of only 91 students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP Spanish Language Exam. AP Exams are based on a 5-point scale, where a 5 is equivalent to a grade of A in the corresponding college course. Rodriguez received the top score of 5.
“Pinecrest Academy is extremely proud of Andy’s many accomplishments,” commented Ed Lindekugel, Pinecrest Academy High School Principal. “He has grown into a young man of faith, dedicated to maximizing his God-given gifts, including his intellect. Perhaps the most admirable part of Andy’s success is the perspective and humility he has maintained. He is a beautiful example for all of us,” he continued.
Additionally, Rodríguez earned a perfect score (36) on the ACT during his junior year, marking the first time in Pinecrest history that a student made a perfect score on this college admissions exam. Out of 1.8 million students who took the ACT in 2013, only 1,162 earned a perfect score.
Rodriguez also earned the highest SAT score at Pinecrest in 2014, and earned a perfect score on the Math II and Physics SAT Subject Tests.
With plans to study engineering in college, Rodriguez has received early acceptance from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
