Have you ever wondered how the water gets to your tap, clean and ready to drink? Don’t miss the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Forsyth County Water Treatment Plant to learn about the important role the facility plays in making sure the water you drink is safe and clean.
An open house at the Forsyth County Water Treatment Plant will be held Monday, May 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event. Light refreshments will be served.
“We invite citizens to come to the plant during the open house to see the facility and learn about the technology that goes into treating our water,” Director of Water and Sewer Tim Perkins said.
The open house coincides with Water Professionals Appreciation Day, which was established to recognize the efforts of those who work to ensure tap water is safe and water resources are protected and properly managed.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to hold an open house to coincide with Water Professionals Appreciation Day on May 4,” Perkins said. “We have an outstanding team of employees and contractors who work diligently to ensure clean, safe drinking water is provided for all of our customers.”
Forsyth County opened the Water Treatment Plant in 2000. An expansion to the plant in 2013 increased the total capacity that can be treated at the plant to 28 million gallons of water daily.
The Forsyth County Water Treatment Plant is located at 2255 Antioch Road. From GA 400, exit at Exit 16 (Pilgrim Mill Road) and travel west. Turn right onto Antioch Road. After traveling approximately 0.6 miles, the entrance to the Water Treatment Plant will be on your right.
