Pinecrest Academy, a private PreK3-12 grade Catholic School in Cumming, GA, will host the University of Notre Dame’s Band of the Fighting Irish this Friday, Oct.17, as they stop in Cumming on their way to the Notre Dame/Florida State football game on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
After a private performance for Pinecrest’s Upper School students during the school day, the 380-member Notre Dame Band will practice from 4:15-6pm on Pinecrest’s Football Field, with a performance of their half-time routine at 5:30pm. This performance is open to the public and all are welcome.
Approximately 250 Notre Dame Alumni are expected to attend, along with other local high school band members.
Dr. Ken Dye, Notre Dame’s Band Director, hosted a summer band clinic for middle school students at Pinecrest Academy in Summer 2014. “Dr. Dye contacted me after his visit to Pinecrest and asked if we would be interested in hosting the Notre Dame Marching Band in October, on their way to the Notre Dame/Florida State Football game,” said Len Insalaca, Pinecrest Academy Band Director. “We were delighted with the opportunity and cannot wait to host Dr. Dye and the Notre Dame Band here on Friday.”
