We are back in paradise at the little cottage by the sea in Matlacha, Florida, where the fishing is good, the fresh seafood is great, and we have managed a few good wines as well. The best so far is the 2013 Rodney Strong Sonoma Chardonnay.
I am starting to believe that 2013 was quite a good year for California Chardonnay, since most that I have tasted so far are excellent. The Rodney Strong Sonoma has good balance, and a bright and fresh nose to accompany an abundant array of flavors. Lots of apple and pear with a strong crisp finish, which begs for another sip.
Of course when you are in Florida you are enjoying a good Chardonnay like this with fresh shrimp or fish, but this one would also be great with a big plate of Fettuccine Alfredo, and a garden fresh salad. But, that’s all for now, as I have a date with a Speckled Sea Trout.
