This week State Representative Mark Hamilton (R) officially tendered to Gov. Nathan Deal his resignation from the Georgia House of Representatives.
In a message to his constituents, Hamilton cited an opportunity in the private sector that will take he and wife, Sandy, to Tennessee.
State Rep. Hamilton’s message to constituents –
Dear friends and supporters,
I write this announcement of my retirement from the Georgia House of Representatives with mixed emotions and feelings. I announced earlier today to my House colleagues at the Capitol that I am resigning my position and I then delivered my official notice to Governor Deal’s office per state law.
I have truly enjoyed serving the citizens of Georgia and representing the citizens of Cumming and Forsyth County over the last nine years. I do not take this honor lightly, and it is difficult for me to leave this duty and to acknowledge that I will no longer have that honor. However, after much prayer and family discussion, I am also extremely excited about a new private sector opportunity that I have accepted that will require Sandy and me to relocate to Nashville. Accordingly, I felt the most appropriate thing to do is to resign my position now since I will begin focusing on the new opportunity even though I still currently live in the district.
I want to thank you and the many other friends and supporters for the prayer, support, and votes over this incredible journey. Sandy and I so appreciate you all and this honor you allowed us to experience. We look forward to this new and exciting chapter in our lives that God has presented and we wish each of you the very best. God bless you and your families.
Sincerely,
Mark
