Forsyth County crews have a plan in place to address the debris that fell within the county right of way during the recent winter weather events. The county’s Roads and Bridges Division has two crews devoted to this effort who have already begun working to remove and chip debris that fell onto the county right of way.
Weather permitting, it is expected to take several months for the cleanup to be completed.
“This is certainly a large task, due to the amount of debris that fell, but we will work diligently until this cleanup effort is complete,” Director of Engineering John Cunard said.
It is important to note that Forsyth County crews will only be removing debris that fell within county right of way during the recent winter weather events. Debris should not be moved from private property onto county right of way, as it will not be removed by county crews. The county does not pick up storm debris from private property and county employees are prohibited from working on private property.
Crews will be utilizing records, photos and other documentation of roadways that were cleared during the recent winter weather events to assist them in determining where right of way cleanup will be performed.
Motorists are urged to use caution when they see these crews working along county roadways.
