Neil Berg’s 102 Years of Broadway – Feb. 14 (Pearce Auditorium) – This Valentine’s Day spectacular will offer dizzying anthems of love, raucous and bawdy wit, passion, exploitation and treachery of the kind only Broadway is capable of conveying – a mix of sentimentality, humor and eccentricity. Neil Berg casts a holy glow and takes his chosen numbers straight to the audience and by golly, when he is finished, you will go wild! The opening moments are only the beginning of a honeymoon…there will be plenty of instances of breathtaking talent and ingenuity. The evening will feature a towering stack of heavy rotation favorites from the ushering of Broadways golden era to today, performed with scorching heat, clarity and crispness by and all original Broadway cast and live band!
Michael Kaeshammer Trio – International Boogie Woogie Pianist & Vocalist – March 5 (Pearce Auditorium) – Pronounced “case-hammer” and compared to Harry Connick, Jr. he plays like a love letter to life! Literally, a feast for your ears that blends ingredients from a vast store of jazz, soul, pop and R&B influences, served up fresh, piping hot, and with a huge helping of joy on the side. He doesn’t play at you – you’re all in it together – not only part of the story, but virtually part of the band. “There’s only one problem with Michael Kaeshammer…he’s too darned talented. And he makes it all sound so easy.” Sandy Mowat, Producer, Fresh Air, CBC Radio One.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra – June 19 (lawn of The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center – This orchestra is a force – a globally championed and cheered symphony! The orchestra burns with focused fire from its very first, lurid notes. The strings are always lush, the woodwinds play beautifully chiseled, and the brasses have the kind of spectacular power and precision that make them legendary. In Gainesville, the symphony will celebrate its 39th Anniversary with The Arts Council. Grab your lawn chairs and cozy blankets, picnic baskets, beverages of choice and candles or reserve tables and ENJOY the Orchestra’s many layers.
