COMMUNITY INVITED TO LEARN ABOUT, PROVIDE INPUT ON SUBAREA PLAN FOR PORTION OF NORTHERN FORSYTH COUNTY
FORSYTHCOUNTY, Georgia – A subarea plan is being developed for a portion of northern Forsyth County to promote physical health through the interconnection of trails and paths in order to support increased walkability and bicycle travel. This plan will further the Forsyth County Bicycle Transportation & Pedestrian Walkways 2025 Plan by focusing on neighborhood connections to county facilities and commercial nodes across the subarea.
The Subarea Plan Project Team will hold two community workshops and a public meeting during October to welcome discussion and public input on the county’s subarea plan. Each meeting will allow review of the initial study area maps with opportunities to provide suggestions for proposed pedestrian and bicycle improvements as well as desired amenities.

Citizens are encouraged to attend one of the meetings and provide recommendations for linkages between neighborhoods, facilities such as parks and schools, and commercial areas across the subarea. The same information will be available at all three meetings during which time residents will be invited to ask questions and share their thoughts with the project team.
“The subarea plan is all about looking ahead and determining the community’s vision for this portion of the county, specifically in terms of connectivity,” said Vice Chairman and District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills, whose district includes a large portion of the subarea. “We hope that everyone – not only those who live in the subarea – will attend these meetings to learn more and to share their comments with us.”
As a part of the subarea plan, residents are also encouraged to complete a brief online survey regarding use of the Big Creek Greenway. A link to the survey can be found on the Forsyth County website at www.forsythco.com.
