One of the many benefits of living in the Cumming area is the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market.
Named one of the “Top 10 Markets in America” by the Huffington Post and by USA Today, this market is perfectly located for the growing Northside area.
The Lakewood 400 Antiques Market is a spin-off of the former Lakewood Antiques Market held at the Atlanta Fairgrounds for over 30 years. June 2015, marks the 12th year the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market, held on the third weekend each month, has been in Cumming, GA.
People often ask “What is an Antiques Market?” It’s much more than tiptoeing through your grandmother’s antiques! It’s a fun, interesting experience for the entire family. Here’s why!
You can find that special, one of a kind antique piece, to set the tone for an entire room. Or you can find the entire room, whether it’s a bedroom suite, dining room suite, or kitchen table. Solid wood, American made, or European. Antique, repurposed, or vintage. The choice is yours!
Lakewood 400 specializes in custom built pieces, such as farm tables, picnic tables, benches, custom sliding barn doors, and cabinets. The dealers are available to help you design the pieces you need. Another specialty is custom signs, painted by Ron Edwards. Crowds gather to what him hand paint signs for customers.
Styles vary from antique, rustic, vintage, mid-century modern, shabby chic, and lake decor to mountain decor. Artificial plants, custom arrangements and garden decor are specialties as well, with ceramics, decorative iron, and even fairy gardens. Lighting, rugs and art are found in many styles, also. The seasonal decor is outstanding.
Collectors can find anything from gas pumps and juke boxes, belt buckles, coins, sports memorabilia, toys, old signs, vintage ribbon and clothes, jewelry, to vintage kitchen items.
Have a broken chair or necklace? Lakewood 400 has dealers who repair jewelry, restore and refinish furniture, and framing while you shop. Let your child pick the frame for their painting! It’s easy and much less expensive!
Who enjoys shopping at Lakewood 400? Home owners, decorators, designers, collectors, set designers for movies, and, of course, families. It is a perfect family day! There is so much to see and learn about, like vintage toys, the old box TV, and telephones that don’t fit in your pocket. There is also a great concession stand that sells burgers, salads, sandwiches, funnel cakes, corn dogs and fresh squeezed lemonade. Tables are in the front where you can sit to eat, visit, rest and watch the shoppers go by with their treasures.
Lakewood 400 Antiques Market is in a 75,000 square foot, climate controlled building. There are also dealers outside in the Veranda and Courtyard. On average, there are 185 dealers from 12 states in 500 dealer spaces. People ask why the Market is only once a month, and the answer is that many dealers travel to markets around the country where they buy and sell. This keeps the thrill in the treasure hunt at Lakewood 400 every month!
The Lakewood 400 Antiques Market is open the third full weekend January through November, and the first weekend in December for the Antiques and Gift Market.
Tickets are $3.00, good all weekend, and children under 12 are free. Market hours are Friday 9 to 5, Saturday 9 to 6 and Sunday 10 to 5.
