2015 Teacher of the Year Finalists

Finalists have been named for the 2015 Forsyth County Schools Teacher of the Year.

These three teachers were surprised with a visit to their school by Superintendent Jeff Bearden and James McCoy, President and CEO of the Cumming- Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, to make this announcement.  One of these three teachers will be named Forsyth County Schools’ 2015 Teacher of the Year at the Celebration of Excellence on March 13.

Dawn James
2015 Elementary School Teacher of the Year

Dawn James received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Georgia and her Juris Doctorate from Mercer Law School. She is a former member of the Georgia National Guard, where she served as a Military Police Officer. Dawn taught in Florida prior to joining Forsyth County Schools, where she worked as a long-term substitute at Coal Mountain ES before joining Brookwood ES in 2010 as a full-time teacher.

Jennifer Davies
2015 Middle School Teacher of the Year

Jennifer Davies received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Georgia, her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and her Specialists degree from Piedmont College. She has taught at both the high school and middle school levels, and has been at Vickery Creek MS since 1998. Jennifer was Forsyth County Schools’ 2002 Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Marlo Miranda
2015 High School Teacher of the Year

Marlo Miranda completed the teacher certification program for Career and Technical Education at the University of Central Florida. He is a Master Certified Automobile Technician, a General Motors Master Certified Technician and holds Advanced Level Certification in Engine Performance. Marlo taught in Florida prior to joining Forsyth County Schools in 2004.
