At their June 4 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners presented a Proclamation recognizing June 14 as National Flag Day in Forsyth County.
On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress of the United Sates adopted the first official flag of the United Sates and on August 3, 1949, the United States Congress officially designated June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.
“Forsyth County has always been proud of our National Flag and what it symbolizes knowing that it represents freedom and democracy and serves as a reminder of all who have risked their lives so we might live ours,” said District 5 Commissioner Jim Boff.
The Proclamation was accepted by members of the Robert Forsyth Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, who also posted the colors at the beginning of the meeting.
