Polls Open August 21 for General Primary Runoff

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21 for the General Primary Runoff.

Voters must go to their designated precinct location to vote on Election Day. NOTE: Due to changes in precincts (voting locations) and districts (redistricting) over the last year it is highly possible your voting precinct/district may have changed. Please verify your Election Day precinct at www.forsythco.com prior to heading out to vote. For all in-person voting, remember to bring one of the six acceptable forms of photo identification. Please note there is no Absentee, Early or Advance Voting the Monday prior to any election.

Advance Voting Location May Not Be Your Designated Election Day Precinct Remember, four of the five Advance Voting locations (Hampton Park Library, Sharon Springs Park Community Building, Cumming City Hall, and Midway Park Community Building) are Election Day voting precincts, however, on Election Day only those voters who are assigned to those designated precincts may cast their ballot there.

Administration Building Not Open For Voting On Election Day Please be advised: The Forsyth County Administration Building, located at 110 E. Main Street in Cumming, is open for Early/Saturday/Advance Voting but is not an Election Day voting precinct. The office of Voter Registrations and Elections in the Administration Building is open all day on Election Day to answer any questions a voter may have, however, there is no voting in the Administration Building on Election Day.  A voter’s polling location on Election Day is specific to where their residence (as registered) falls within designated precinct lines and in most cases is no more than 4 miles from a voter’s house. Schools which are Election Day Voting Precincts Be Advised: School is in Session on August 21 Listed below are the schools in Forsyth County used as Election Day precincts, and the hours that are the busiest with student drop-off and pick-up.  Voters should be aware of these high traffic times:     *Little Mill Middle School: 6800 Little Mill Road – Student drop-off and pick-up times are 8:15 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 4:40 p.m.    *Vickery Creek Middle School: 6240 Post Road – Student drop-off and pick-up times are 8:15 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.    *Matt Elementary School: 7455 Wallace Tatum Road – Student drop-off and pick-up times are 7:10 to 7:45 a.m. and 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.    *Sawnee Elementary School: 1616 Canton Highway – Student drop-off and pick-up times are 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 to 3:30 p.m.    *Mashburn Elementary School: 3777 Samples Road – Student drop-off and pick-up times are 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 2:20 to 3:30 p.m.

In order to be eligible to vote in the August 21 Runoff:

You must be a registered voter in Forsyth County as of the July 2, 2012 registration deadline and

*you must have voted a Republican ballot in the July 31 Primary or *you must have voted a Non-Partisan ballot in the July 31 Primary or *you did not vote in the July 31 Primary. Any voter who voted a Democratic ballot in the July 31 Primary is not eligible to vote in the August 21 Runoff.

Election results for the General Primary Runoff will be available at www.forsythco.com and will also air live Tuesday evening on TV Forsyth, Comcast channel 23.
