A motorcyclist died on Saturday in North Forsyth County after being struck by a vehicle that was making a turn off of Ga. Hwy. 53.

According to Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit, Sidney Paul Agent, Jr., 45, of Copper Mill Road, Dahlonega, Ga., was killed in the collision. Agent was airlifted from the scene to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where he died later that day from his injuries.

Investigator Tomblin said that Agent was riding his 1978 Harley Low Rider motorcycle and was traveling westbound on Ga. Hwy. 53 when a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer being driven by Jimmy Darrell Barnett, Jr., 41, of Kit Court, Murrayville, Ga., made a left-hand turn into the path of the motorcycle. “Agent was unable to avoid the collision and struck the side of the Trailblazer. He was ejected from the motorcycle and into the side of the Trailblazer,” Inv. Tomblin added.

Investigator Tomblin stated that Barnett was not injured in the collision, however, the passenger in the vehicle with Barnett, who was identified as Melody Cowart, 39, of Kit Court, Dahlonega, Ga., was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with minor injuries.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:04 p.m. on Ga. Hwy. 53 (Dawsonville Highway) near the Forsyth-Hall County line in the area of the Dollar General Store and Chestatee Heights Road.

Investigator Tomblin said it does not appear that alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the collision. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
