Lanier Technical College President Vandiver announces retirementPresident Russell Vandiver, President of Lanier Technical College, announced his retirement at the end of March 2013 to the College Board of Directors. Vandiver has spent 37 years at Lanier Tech, and in the last two years he served as the fourth President of the College.

Vandiver served as the Vice President of Economic Development for many years helping to bring new businesses, new jobs, and new training opportunities into North Georgia.

Vandiver told the Board of Directors that the timing allows the Technical System of Georgia to search for the new president prior to the new fiscal year beginning in July 2013.  He also told the Board of Directors, “Lanier Tech is a great school with great people and great customer service”.

Vandiver said that among his proudest accomplishments are the newly opened Dawson Campus and the Forsyth Conference Center.  He said that he had accomplished most of this Lanier Tech “bucket list” including the selection of the new Vice President of Economic Development and the Executive Director of the Foundation.

Vandiver concluded that his future plans are to “teach my 8 year old grandson how to fly-fish and my 4 year old granddaughter how to dress a doll”.
