Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Outdoor Program Coordinator Joseph Daugherty was recently recognized by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) with the District 7 Parks and Outdoor Professional Award.

The Parks and Outdoor Professional Award recognizes those individuals who have been involved with community, civic and professional organizations, and who have made contributions to promote the field of recreation.

During his several years of work with Forsyth County, Daugherty has worked on a variety of projects including land, building and grounds management; volunteer coordination; and development of environmental and outdoor education programs.

The GRPA District 7 is comprised of more than 30 parks and recreation agencies across north Georgia. This award was presented to Daugherty Oct. 22 at the District 7 banquet held in Norcross.
