Forsyth County 911 Center Resumes Normal Operations

FORSYTH COUNTY, Georgia – The Forsyth County 911 Center resumed normal operations Friday morning, following a power interruption that occurred Thursday at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex.

During strong storms that swept through Forsyth County Thursday afternoon, the Public Safety Complex, which houses the county’s 911 Center, experienced power failure resulting in brief, periodic ‘brown outs.’ When this occurred, the county activated procedures and plans in place for such situations.

Incoming 911 calls were transferred to the Hall County 911 Center, who then relayed the information via a dedicated radio channel to Forsyth County dispatchers operating out of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command Center. County staff and vendors immediately began working to identify and resolve the power issues to the building.

Around midnight, incoming 911 calls were transferred back to the Forsyth County 911 Center. Friday morning, public safety communications switched back to the county’s primary radio system. Just before 11 a.m. Friday, the transition to normal 911 Center and radio system operations was fully completed and operating smoothly.
