A 54 year old man died Sunday, Jan. 25 at 10:35 p.m. after being involved in a two vehicle car crash on Old Atlanta Road near Daves Creek Drive.
According to Deputy First Class Andrew Ives, Traffic Specialist Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Payne of Cumming, Ga. was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Payne was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer traveling north on Old Atlanta Road negotiating a curve at Daves Creek Drive. A 2013 Nissan Leaf, driven by Kirthika Sivasubramanian (age 34) of Cumming, Ga. was traveling southbound on Old Atlanta Road also negotiating a curve near Daves Creek Drive. It was determined the Blazer driven by Payne was traveling north in the southbound lane of Old Atlanta Road. Due to the curve in the roadway, Sivasubramanian did not have time to react when she saw the Chevrolet Blazer in her lane. The vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lane.
Sivasubramanian was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
